It was foggy again this morning. At 7AM I could barely see the tree in the center and I couldn't see the one beyond it at all. Visibility was 100-150'. It would not have been fun driving to work.
This morning we visited the courthouse in Victoria. It is a beautifully restored building.
You enter through the new annex on the right and go through an enclosed walkway to the old courthouse. When we got up to the door and read the sign, I had to walk back to the car to lock up my pocket knife and another item that I couldn't take into the building.Originally there was an open atrium for additional ventilation. An elevator has been installed in this space.
And the space is covered with a skylight.
Everything has been beautifully restored. We were a little disappointed that we couldn't peek into any of the courtrooms.
Once again we couldn't find a "restaurant" at the address for the first place on Kathy's list of places that looked to be worth a try for lunch. Another food truck? Second on her list was Mumphord's BBQ. They open at 11AM, we arrived at 11:15AM.
The entrance door was right behind my back. You placed you order at the counter and they brought you your food. I think that by 11:30 we had our food.
Kathy had ribs, cole slaw and potato salad. I had brisket, cole slaw and green beans. We both had ice tea, they did not have soda/pop. The good was great and so was the tea. The tea was in large dispensers that had to hold 20 gallons.
When we left the end of the line was outside.

After lunch we went to the Museum of the Coastal Bend. Kathy decided she was walked out for day. She stayed in the car and read while I explored. The museum provides a brief history of the people in this area, with lots of material from archeological excavations. My brain is so geared to thinking about North a
America colonization being from the east coast that it is good for me to get reminded that the French and Spanish colonized the Gulf Coast. In 1673 the French went up the Mississippi River as far as the Arkansas River. In 1565 the Spanish established St. Augustine and in 1610 they established Santa Fe.
We had lots of deer this evening, maybe 18.
Tomorrow is a travel day, Lord willing we will be in Beaumont, TX tomorrow night, a little over 200 miles from here and 20 miles from Louisiana.
God is good. I pray that He blesses you and yours. He has blessed me.
