Jan 10th - Avenal, CA

We left Desert Hot Springs this morning around 11 and headed north, well first west and then north.

As a point of information, none of the windmills were turning again the morning. When we got "over the hill", west of Palm Springs there were hundreds more of them and they were turning.

Kathy did all the driving today. Traffic wasn't horrible in the massive urban area around LA, but is wasn't all that great either.
Once we got north of all the people the scenery was beautiful (Almost as nice as the Smokies <grin>.)

We are spending the night at a 76 truck stop in Avenal, CA. Overnight low is supposed to be in the mid 30's. Tomorrow we should easily make it to the Alameda County Fairgrounds where we will spend at least tomorrow night. It is about 30 miles and a 35 minute drive from Drew's place. We are arriving a couple of days earlier than planned and he is going to a movie tomorrow night so we won't see him until Thursday evening. We can spend the day Thursday looking around the area.

I have some photos of the scenery, and the sunset but for some reason the function that allows me to upload them has changed. Hopefully I can figure out how the "bozos" "improved" the system and get them uploaded tomorrow.

"God incident"? When we stopped for lunch north of the LA area I realized that I did not have my RV keys in my pocket. I had them when I locked the bay door, after dumping the tanks this morning, just before leaving the campground. I was concerned that I must had pulled them out of my pocket and dropped them before I got into the RV, after hooking up the CRV. We had travelled way to far to go back and look. Minutes later Kathy found them laying in the recliner, under one of our map atlas's. I don't know how they got there. Thank you Jesus!

Good night to all and may God bless you and yours.
