Today we drove from Iuka to Brookhaven, 324 miles. 622 miles yet to get to Padre Balli Park on Padre Island in Corpus Christi, where we will stay a week. Another 155 miles to get from Padre Balli to Encore Lakewood in Harlingen, TX where we will spend over a month.
We actually split driving today, Kathy drove the first 140 miles and the last 20 miles. I drove the middle 164 miles. It's the most I've driven the coach in one day. Most of the miles were on US or MS highways. only the last 60 miles were on Interstates ( I20 & I55). Traffic was light and pavement surfaces were mostly good.
Last nights low in Iuka was 40 degrees, today's high hit 70. It was mostly cloudy and windy in some areas.
Snow in Mississippi, no, just a field of cotton. The fields always catch our eyes since we are only used to seeing mostly corn & soy beans.
We filled up with fuel in Louisville, MS. 91 gallons at $3.67/gal. Fuel mileage was only 7.2 mpg. I may try some Lucas Fuel Treatment or maybe even some of their Cetane Booster, to see if it helps. I used the Fuel Treatment in my Duramax when towing the travel trailer but got out of the habit.
We stopped at a rest area on I55 for a late lunch.
The photo below shows us parked at the Lincoln Civic Center RV Park in Brookhaven. The "RV Park" is a paved parking lot with concrete pads. No frills but it's only $30/night for a full hook up. The lights in the background are for a complex of ball fields. On the other side of the lot are several buildings that appear to be set up for livestock shows. The concrete pads are big enough for our coach but the place isn't set up for pull thru overnighters. The spaces are all supposed to be back-ins, which we couldn't do without unhooking the Flex. We were able to pull thru an empty space and into the one where we are parked. I dumped our tanks, unhooked the hose and we pulled forward until our passenger front tire was off the concrete pad. That got the Flex out of the spot behind us (mostly).
We arrived at 3:45. After getting set up it was nice to be able to open the windows and enjoy some fresh air blowing through the coach as we took naps. We did walk a loop around the lot to get some exercise.
God is good. I pray that He blesses you and yours as He has blessed me.
