Day 1 - Monday, December 4th, 2023 - Centertown to West Memphis, AR

Last week we drove the coach to California, Missouri (10 miles), topped off the fuel tank (46.7 gallons to top off the 150 gallon tank) and the propane tank (21.1 gallons to top off the 35 gallon tank). The last time we bought propane was December 17, 2022 in Arizona.

Today we headed south. We left Centertown at 8:25 and pulled into Tom Sawyer’s Campground in West Memphis, AR about 4:20, 344 miles. We drove US50, US63, I555 & I55. In general, we think the pavement surfaces of US highways are much better than those on the Interstates. Also, we get more scenery on the US highways than on the Interstates.

Andy made ribs yesterday for a send off dinner last night, YUM, YUM, and Lydia, Nolan & Kelsey walked down for a visit prior to our leaving this morning.

The weather was good, other than being cold when we got hooked up this morning. It was surprising how many units had pulled into the campground by nightfall.

We pulled off for lunch just before reaching Hardy, AR. Not a scenic view, but handy for getting on and off the highway.

Kathy fixed us Reuben sandwiches.

Parked at Tom Sawyer's in West Memphis.
Looking downriver.
Looking upriver.

A cute little blurb included in the campground literature says, "Right on the Mississippi River, in fact some times we are in it."

Kathy took a walk at sunset and took the photo below.

We have stayed here before, the night of January 5, 2022. It was when we were on our way south for a month in Alabama. We still had the travel trailer then.

God is good. I pray that He blesses you and yours. He has certainly blessed me.
