Weather here has alternated back and forth between mostly sunny and drizzling rain, but no more below freezing temperatures the past several days.
What have I been doing?
Earlier I included some photos of the trees down along the "shortcut path" to Tom & Mary Lou's. I cut up the down trees and opened up the path again.
T&ML's driveway was getting a little rutted so I used Tom's tractor and did some grading (more play than work). It isn't perfect but its better than it was and will hold for awhile.
I had marked a dead tree, located right along side their driveway, last fall. It wasn't very bit, about a 9" butt diameter, but it was pretty good wood for firewood. I cut it down and split it.
I've also been doing a little work on our "cabin". I had been "stressing" over how I was going to get the drywall that I have hung, especially in the kitchen area, taped and primed. I have had the kitchen base cabinets and counter top since last fall but haven't wanted to install them until I get the drywall taped and painted.
Several years ago Doug brought down a stainless steel, restaurant style sink and set it up at the infamous S&S unit over at the campground. The water supply connection were just garden hoses and the drain was never completely connected.
I "borrowed" the sink and moved it to our kitchen. It only took about 30 minutes, after I got it set in place, to have it hooked up and functional. Kathy did some cleaning and it cleaned up beautifully.
The cabin is now officially fully functional. Heat, AC, full bath & full kitchen. Today I ordered the 4 windows that remain to be installed in the south and west walls and an exterior door for the south wall. The local hardware store in Crossville is just awesome to work with. When I know when I coming back to TN, next month, I will call them and give them a couple of days notice and they will deliver the stuff. FOR FREE!
I've put up a few more sheets of drywall and still have probably 24 more sheets before I get it all up. I think I will call the guy who I want to tape the drywall and get his opinion on whether he wants to try and do the entire cabin at once, or if he would rather I move all the loose stuff to one side, let him to that side, move the stuff to the other side and let him finish. I've got enough "stuff" in there that taping the ceiling might be a problem if he tries to do it all at once.
I've been having problems with a back tooth for a couple of months. It has never been really painful but it was sore if I chewed much on that side. Years ago the tooth had had a root canal and had a crown on it, so having problems with it wasn't a shock. A piece broke off the edge when in Texas I and saw a dentist down there. He told me that it needed to be pulled. I asked if it could wait until I got home and he said he didn't think it would be a problem. I went in to see a dentist in Crossville last week and she agreed that it needed to be pulled. She pulled it this afternoon. She told me that she thought it would come out with no problems and so far she was right. The extraction went really smooth. I went back and crawled in the chair about 12:55 and at 1:20 I was back out in the car ready to come home. Probably 20 minutes of that time was waiting for the anesthetic to kick in. I have some pain pills and even though it really painful I haven't been bashful about taking them.
Kathy's sisters, Cindy & Nancy, are picking up Cindy's son Oliver and our son Doug in Indianapolis this evening coming down here for the weekend. Kelsey & Lydia are leaving Centertown, and heading this way in the morning. Tom & Merv's birthdays are next week. Merv will be 96.
Our plan it to head back to Centertown the middle of next week.
God is good. I am such a blessed person.
May God bless you and yours.
