I took a 3.7 mile walk along the beach wearing jeans, a tee shirt, and a short sleeve shirt. When I got back I exchanged the jeans for shorts and took off the short sleeve shirt.
During my walk back to the campground I saw a couple of kids out in the shallow (waves up to their waists) water. Late in the afternoon my curiosity got the best of me and I waded into the surf. The water is cold!
There were lots of kite flyers out on the beach during the afternoon, many of them clustered on the beach right out in front of the campground.
I visited with several people at the campground. The people next to us are in their mid-late 50's. He grew up in South Dakota and she grew up in Louisiana. He has been all over the country, and even overseas, working on the instrumentation on cranes. She is a nurse but she started doing instrumentation work with him, because it pays better. He told me that he is working at a construction project that will take 4-5 years to complete. He said that they are having problems hiring enough workers.
Another couple are from Washington, MO, maybe 30 miles from St. Louis. They are only going to be here for a few more days, but they aren't going back to MO until it warms up.
I went out on the beach this morning to see if I could see the sun rise but it was so foggy that the sunrise was totally hidden.
