Feb 6th - AWESOME DAY!

It was an absolutely gorgeous day here today. I'm not sure how it could have been nicer. (yesterday was a little trying, so thank you Lord for such a nice day today).

After breakfast we went for a mile long walk along the beach.
We walked out to the street and walked back on the street. It was a little less pleasant <GRIN>.

We went to a seafood restaurant for lunch. I had fish. It was good, less greasy than Long John Silvers, and a lot more expensive. Kathy had shrimp, scallops, oysters which she said was good.

After lunch we drove around a little and found the jetty and a nice little park.

We walked out to the end of the jetty, it had to extend a half mile out into the Gulf. There were fishermen spread out along the entire length, although not to many clear on here on the end.
 Looking back at the shoreline.
There was a dredge set up working along the channel. Kathy spotted this dolphin and managed to get a photo of it one of the times it surfaced. I couldn't believe that she manage to get a photo of it. It appeared to be just checking things out along the dredge equipment.
There are two kids out in the Gulf in the photo below. They are off to the right, but you can hardly see them. NOAA reports that the Gulf water temperature here is 56 degrees. I don't know where they take the measurements but I suspect the shallow water at the beach was warmer, but even a 70 degree water temperature is cool for swimming.

After the jetty walk it was back to the campground. We talked some to a guy staying here. He and his wife are from Washington, MO. They have been here since the first of the year. They plan on staying until the end of April.  He is a fisherman, which I guess is the main draw of this area, along with the warmer weather.

All the sun and walking just wore me out, I had to take a 90 minute nap in the afternoon <grin>. Kathy was tough and went for another walk along the beach.

It is difficult for us to relate to the temperatures here. 63 degrees was the highest temperature we noticed today. During our morning beach walk I wore jeans and a short sleeve shirt, I was plenty warm. At 11 AM, when we were still in the motor home, the sun had heated up the interior to 83 degrees. After opening up all the windows and roof vents it cooled down without the need to start up the AC. I exchanged the jeans for shorts before going out for lunch and the jetty walk. I was comfortable during the afternoon.

May God bless you and yours.
