Sunday, December 11th - Eastland to Midland

It was cool and cloudy today. We are spending the next two nights at the Midland RV Park, its 220 miles from Wandering Oaks. The plan is to explore the Midland/Odessa area tomorrow, but that may change.

On the way here the check engine light came on about half way here, just before we came to a rest area. We pulled off, shut the engine off for 10 minutes, started it back up  and the light was off. About 20 miles later the same thing happened again. Then no check engine light the last 60 miles to the campground. Something similar happened on our way to TN in July. We stopped at a Cummins Service Center, they read the Code and it was for a high crankcase pressure, I think something about a breather needing cleaned/replaced. It never came on again. I intended on putting that on Lakeshore's list but Bryan doesn't have one of the expensive diagnostic tools required for the big diesels. There is a Cummins Service Center less than 20 miles from here. I may drive the car over in the morning to see if they will at least read the Code if I take the coach to them.

Below are some photos of the Texas countryside.

These are not normal waterways in this field, just drainage from all the rain.
Another CLOUDY day. No more pine trees both sides of the road.

Hundreds (over a thousand?) windmills, on both sides of the road as far as you could see and not one of them was turning. I can't imagine the capital invested in these and no power is being generated. Somewhere a fossil fuel powered plant is providing electricity while these are idle.

Oil and gas wells providing reliable fuel for us.

When researching campgrounds in the Midland area the comments on this one was that it is a "workers campground" but that people felt comfortable and would stay here again if in the area. Another comment was that you had to get used to the idea that west Texas campgrounds were all gravel parking lots with hookups. Stretching our legs.

Most of the vehicles had Texas plates but we also saw South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, Arizona & Ohio. When we were back at our coach I noticed 2 more Class A's come in, but I didn't see where they went to park.

Kathy commented that we probably would not have to worry about sleeping in in the morning, with all the diesel pickups starting up as people went to work.

God is good. I pray that He blesses you and yours.
