It was warm enough last night that we let the AC run all night, mostly to knock some of the humidity out of the air. The temperature hit 70 today but it was CLOUDY, we didn't even get a peek at the sun all day. Occasionally it misted rain, but nothing heavy.
Below are some photos of the Country Living RV Park where we stayed last night.
Driving through rural NW Louisiana. Lots of logging occurring.
At the Texas Welcome Center. We weren't interested in Crawfish and they didn't have ribs. We had lunch in the coach, just made some sandwiches.
The Welcome Center was nice.
Tonight we are at the Wandering Oaks RV Park in Eastland, TX, 410 miles today, most of it on I20. The short section of I20 we were on east of Shreveport was in horrible condition. We considered backtracking and looking for an alternate route on US and State highways. Once we hit Shreveport the pavement surface improved.
We topped off our tank west of Fort Worth. It took 76 gallons, exactly the same as it took the last time we filled up. We paid $3.67/gal. We still saw a lot of over $4/gal prices but it wasn't difficult to find places under $3.80/gal. I don't know what to expect when we hit New Mexico in a few days but I will be sure to have a full tank when we leave Texas. We managed 8.1 mpg this time, versus 7.5 last time. the 8.1 is the best we have gotten. I'm pretty sure I had the tank completely both times.
Traffic on the rural AR & LA roads was very light. Traffic on I20 was heavy until we were well west of Fort Worth. An accident west of Fort Worth, well out into rural TX, stopped us for over 45 minutes. Traffic was backed up for many miles. We didn't end up getting to the campground until 6 PM. Utilities at the site were convenient to access and setting up in the dark was relatively easy. Its cooler here, a damp 60 degrees at 9PM with a forecast overnight low of 58 degrees. Its supposed to be rainy here again tomorrow. Hopefully as we travel on west tomorrow we will get out of the rain and into some sun.
We had considered spending a couple of nights in the Dallas/Fort Worth area but decided against it, so even with the night in Red Bay, after the windshield repairs, we are back on schedule. Actually I think we are now ahead of schedule. We are going to have plenty of time to re-explore Tucson and Phoenix.
Only 1,201 miles to Palm Springs Oasis Resort.
God is good. I pray that He blesses you and yours.
