July 28th - A Little Cooler

Last night it got down into the high 60's. I actually felt like going out and doing something. I worked outside until around 1:30. It was 88 when I came in. Below is a photo of our wood boiler and "woodshed". The boiler firebox can handle up to 30" long pieces of wood. The door opening is 14"x15". There is enough room for a lot of wood in the firebox.

Kathy and I moved the wood that was already split down to the wood shed. There is probably a face cord. Lengths vary from 15-22".

After moving the wood I mowed down the weeds. I'm abusing our Craftsman lawn tractor by using is to mow over some pretty tall weeds in the back. I sharpened the blades earlier this week but after the sticks and rocks I hit when mowing in the boonies I'm sure they need sharpened again.

We still have TV/Satellite problems. We went to the Sam's store in Columbia and exchanged our week old TV for another one. The replacement had the same problems so I called Chuck, the satellite installer. He came out today and tried a new satellite receiver. It didn't solve the problem. For some reason Dish Network receivers don't seem to work with this model Magnavox TV. I will box up the TV AGAIN in the morning and take it back to Sam's. The main reason we got the Magnavox was because they made a 39" screen that would just fit in the opening we have for a TV. We will end up with a 37" TV now and you can bet it won't be a Magnavox.

This trip to Columbia will be dual purpose. We will go on up past Columbia another 10 miles or so and look at a tractor. A guy up there had a late 50's International 350 with a loader, a 2 bottom mounted plow, a 6' rear blade, a post hole digger with two size auger and a 5' brush hog. He claims that it runs good but that he wants something smaller. This is bigger than I want but it seems like a good deal. Not sure how I will get everything 50 plus miles back here.

Lord it is great to have a good Internet connection. I just did another speed check, 7.71 Mbps downstream & 0.75 Mbps upstream. The other times I've checked speeds have shown similar results.

Time to get to bed. Not sure if we are going to church tomorrow. If we don't I need to get out and get some more work done in the morning. It is supposed to get down to 69 tonight. At 9:30 it is still 83. Today's high was only 95. Tomorrow though Thursday the forecast highs are 99-101.

Good night to all and may God bless you and yours.
