July 13th - Back in Missouri

We made the rounds visiting relatives and friends in Indiana, Michigan & Tennessee and we are now back in Missouri.

We had some issues with the truck we rented but nothing that caused to much of a problem. Tom, Kathy's brother, helped us load things in Tennessee, which helped a lot.

Our handgun training course went well last Saturday. Both of us easily passed. On Monday we applied for our Tennessee permits to carry a handgun. We plan on staying Tennessee residents as long as possible since the taxes are so much less there. The Tennessee permit is good in 43 (I think) states.

After applying for the permits we picked up the rental truck and car carrier trailer and then loaded the stuff we stored in Tennessee. We rented a car carrier and hauled the car back on it. The cost of the carrier was about the same as the cost of fuel to drive the car. Hauling the car allowed us to both be in the truck and split the driving duties. Monday was a looooong day. Tuesday we drove back to Missouri, about 600 miles. Wednesday we unloaded. Kathy and I managed to get all but two pieces unloaded. Andy, our grandson-in-law, came over and helped with the last two pieces. We were POOPED by Wednesday night.

Yesterday we took the rental truck back, had lunch in Jefferson City and then went to the Amish grocery store, with Kelsey and Lydia, located about 10 miles from Kelsey's.
After that it was home for some rest.

When we arrived back here on Tuesday night the air conditioning in the house had quit. Fortunately we are still living in the motor home. We are taking showers in the house and it was pretty warm, hard to stay cool after a shower when the temperatures is in the mid-high 80's. The service man came out Wednesday afternoon and repaired the unit. With our home warranty the repair cost us $75.

Today Kathy is checking out rummage sales, I haven't even left the motor home yet. I've got a few things I have to do today but don't plan on doing a lot yet. That may be a mistake since the high temps are now only in the mid 90's, a cold snap for here. The highs for Sunday-Thursday are all either 98 or 99. Guess I should be thankful that the highs are still all not over 100 degrees like they have been.

Better get out and get things done.

Good day to all and may God bless you and yours.
