Saturday morning Kathy, Leanne & Olivia went to a Salt Lake City
Farmers Market. They had a good time looking through all the offerings, and
sampling some of the food.
I stayed at the campground and fixed the tongue jack (I damaged it when I forgot the truck
tailgate was down and made a sharp U-turn in a gas station parking lot. The
tailgate hit the jack controller and broke the switch.) Later I took the truck
to the car wash. WOW are the old fashioned do it yourself car washes expensive
now. Forget quarters you get dollar coins from the change machine, and you
better get a lot of them. I got $5 worth and wasn’t close to being done. Got
$10 worth the 2nd trip to the coin machine and used half of them.
$10 wouldn’t have been all that bad if it had done a good job, it didn’t. At least the truck was a lot a lot cleaner
when I finished.
For lunch we went to a hot dog stand down the street from the campground. Hot dogs weren't bad the location was sad. There were several people hanging around who appeared to be very "down on their luck". I saw no panhandling but it was sad. A guy in his 20's was sitting on the grass between the sidewalk and the street. I suspect everything he owned was piled around him. Later a girl, probably in her early 20's, came and sat beside him. Kathy watched her cover her head and snort something. The hot dog place had a special if you bought 5 hot dogs, which we ordered. We had one left which I took over and offered to the girl, she took it and thanked me.
We stopped at a local grocery on the way back to the campground.
It was an interesting place.
In the afternoon Kathy did a couple of loads of laundry at
the campground laundromat. When I was walking around the campground I saw this 5th wheel unit. Kathy thought it might be a "bunkhouse" for workers at the state fair.
This morning we took our time getting around, then we hitched up the
truck and headed south. We are spending the night at the Butch Cassidy
campground in Salina, UT. The 130 mile trip down was about 60% interstate and
40% two lane highway. The elevation varied between 4,400 and 5,500 feet. We saw
snow on the tops of a couple of mountains along the way. The tops of the mountains
with the snow were above elevation 10,000 feet.
Parked at Butch Cassidy Campground.
View from front of campground.
We ate supper out on the picnic table. While we were eating we had a visitor.
The weather today was great. It was in the low 50's when we got up this morning. Today's high was in the low 70's. The sky was beautiful, sunny with big fluffy clouds.
So far we have traveled 1,543 miles.
