We are camped at the Fort Bridger RV Camp tonight. Still in
Wyoming but about 35 miles from Utah. We drove almost 300 miles today. We are
approximately 1,100 miles from home. The campground would be nice if it weren’t
for all the yapping dogs. Makes me want to go out and touch off about 10 rounds
of 9mm at 3AM just to see how many people would be upset by the noise.
West of Laramie we have seen very few row crops. We say
large stacks of hay bales at quite a few places during the last 50 or so miles
of todays travels. We saw only one area with a large number of cattle grazing
and another with a large number of horses being pastured. During the last 15
miles of our trip we left I80. Kathy saw at least 50 antelope. I was driving
and saw maybe 25 of them. Some grazing within 50 yards of the edge of the road.
I thought we were done with all the hill climbing, not so. Today was nearly 300 miles of up the hill over the top down into a valley then up to the top of the next ridge. This was repeated time after time. The highest we were today was elevation 7,775 and the lowest was elevation 6,147. Fuel mileage was only 7.9mpg during yesterdays 2,500' climb. 10.4 mpg today with all the ups & downs. 10.2 mpg over 1097 miles.
Some photos of scenery Kathy took while we were driving.
The next 2 photos show what we think must be snow fence. There is miles & miles of it, although it isn't everywhere.
It is typically placed at an angle to the road in kind of an overlapping herringbone pattern.
We even go to go through a short tunnel.
We stopped at a rest area for lunch.
Taking a walk. Note the traffic coming up the hill.
Parked at the campground.
Tomorrow is kind of a rest day. We will explore Fort Bridger, don't really know what to expect, and maybe drive around the area a little. From what we have found online it appears that the closest grocery store is 30 miles away.
High temperature we saw while driving today was 83. It was close to that the first time we were sitting out at the campground. We went out again after supper and the temperature was 74. I had on a tee shirt and shorts. I had to go get a jacket. There is truth in the comments about "dry heat". When I was unhooking the trailer from the truck and setting it up I got a little warm, but I didn't seem to sweat. Actually I was seating but the humidity is so low that it evaporates instantly, and cools you as it evaporates. A while later I licked my mustache and it was really salty from evaporated sweat.

God is good, may He bless you and yours.
