May 16th - Lawn Mowing

Today I spent about 5 hours on the big lawn mower. Jeff did the push mowing that needed to be done while I was mowing with the rider. Sometimes the flowers in the lawn are so pretty that you hate to mow over them. These vary from white to pink.

You just can't imagine the flowers that are all over this place.
We walk by this lilac bush on the way back and forth to the Dining Hall. They smell GREAT!
The following two photos are also of flowers on the way to the Dining Hall, and it really isn't that much of a walk.

Sadly my photos don't come close to displaying the beauty of these flowers.
After lunch I helped Jeff tear the carpet off the dock so that he can can make repairs and then install new carpet. The water is still about 6" above the normal level because beavers keep building a dam at the lake outlet. Jeff destroyed the dam several days ago and the water is down a foot from what it had been. Two days after he destroyed it a neighbor called to tell Jeff that he was looking out his window watching the beavers rebuild the dam. (A beaver story during supper. Joel's uncle, Joel is the guy who directed our shark disection, helps at the school in Rockaway Beach. Last year someone hit one of the beavers and it was injured along the road. Someone called Joel's uncle and told them it had been hit. He went out to get it and called the local police when he found out it was still alive. They came out and shot it. He took it back to school and, after sterilizing all the discestion tools, he disected it during class. After he was done with the disection he cut the meat into cubes and fried it in butter. The kids all had a piece and later so did Jeff and Joel. Jeff said it was as good as any meat he had ever eaten.)

We went over to the beach after supper. It is supposed to "drizzle" tomorrow so this might be our last to spend time on the beach. The kids group that left today must have built this fort. You can't tell from the photo but there is actually a "roof" of driftwood. Ten kids could easily get under the "roof". Some of the adults had to have helped because some of these pieces are big.
 From the back side.
We were tired and drove over to the beach. When we turned back in to the RV parking area these three deer were grazing. The house is in the background is staff housing. There are three houses in a row behing the parking area.
We drove slowly into the lot and parked the car. The deer walked along and kept eating. In the photo below Kathy is less than 50 feet from them. They are only about 100 feet from the RV.

Good night to all and may God bless you and yours.
