I spent all day scraping the old wax/varnish off hardwood flooring. John salvaged an entire gym floor some time ago and is now wanting to use the flooring in several places. All the edges of the hardwood pieces have to be scraped to remove old varnish and wax that had migrated down between the boards. Some aren't to bad, some are a real problem. I bet I spent at least 10 minutes scraping one board. I probably spent about 4 hours actually scraping, and another 2 hours going to the barn/shop to get the boards, setting up a place to do the scraping and then putting things away when I finished for the day. I think it would take me at least two more days to get enough ready to do a 200 sq ft room. I'm sure looking forward to sawing wood the next two days, rather than more scraping. <grin>
The couple from Wisconsin, the grooms parents, arrived around 8 last night. I chatted with them briefly. When they left their home in Wisconsin there was about 6 inches of snow on the ground. They are pulling a 31' Airstream trailer. When they leave here, after the wedding, their plan was to spend the rest of the winter in southern Texas. Yesterday one of their kids called them to tell them that a pipe had burst in their home. A good portion of the home was flooded, not underwater flooded, just totally soaked. The Dad says he told the kid (one of their married adult children) to turn off the water, get the heat running again. He said that he will deal with it when he returns in the spring. The Mom wants to go back and deal with it now.
It got down to 28 last night (30 was the lowest I saw on the RV thermometer). Today's high was a 63. The low forecast for tonight has been steadily dropping. Yesterday tonights low was forecast to be 35, by this morning that had dropped to 32 and now I see that it had dropped to 28. Tomorrow's high is supposed a sunny 63 again. It ought to be good wood sawing weather. Tomorrow nights low is supposed to be 43, and Friday nights low is supposed to be 60.
On a totally different subject. I am a Jack Reacher fan. Jack Reacher is a character in books by Lee Child. Have you seen the ads for the Jack Reacher movie? Tom Cruise is playing Jack Reacher. I would like to know what lunatic cast Cruise as Reacher. A big part of Reacher's character is based on his size and strength. Wikipedia knows his size, 6'-5" and his weight, which varies from 210-250#. Tom Cruise is 5'-7" (ex-wife Nicole Kidman said she couldn't wear heels when she went out with him, because she was taller than him) and weighs about 150#. There is no way Cruise is the Reacher in Lee Child's novels. I am shocked that Lee Child allowed his character to be prostituted.
Have a good evening. May God bless you and yours.
