Day 2 - Wednesday, June 10 - Terre Haute to Coldwater, MI

It was HOT again today. We ran the generator/AC over 9 hours out of 24, PTL for AC. It was 266 miles from the Clear Creek Welcome Center to the Branch County Fairgrounds.

This morning I took a couple more photos of the trucker area restrooms. The unit closest to us had two "stalls" on this side. I didn't walk around to see if there were two or three on the other side.

I wouldn't be surprised if some enterprising individuals have figured out how to quickly attach a hose and spray head to the sink faucet, to take showers.

The first 30-40 miles of Indiana's I70 eastbound rank in the top 5 worst roads we have driven on in the last several years. Traffic was fairly heavy most of the day. Almost all of the I465 Indy loop pavement was in good condition. So was the first 20 miles of I69, north of Indy. Past that a lot of the right hand lane was nearly as much patches as pavement.

Temperatures were in the high 80's with feels like temps slightly over 100, dew points were in the high 70's.

Kathy used to do 90% of the driving. She hasn't felt like it lately so I'm doing the driving. Travelling is a lot more fun when your job is to sight see, nap, listen to books on tape, etc. Driving is work! 😊

According to my Gas Buddy app gas prices in Michigan were generally higher than Indiana. My plan was to fill up just before leaving Indiana. Gas Buddy said fuel was $5.39 at a station I was familiar with. About an hour north of Indy we hit a town where they must have been having a gas war. Three stations were selling diesel for $4.69/gal. Once we got off at the exit we could see that one of the stations had truck pumps. We pulled in and got in line. There were 3 semi's lined up in front of us, waiting to get to the pumps. The wait wasn't long. It took 44.9 gallons to fill up. The price at most stations ranged from $5.40-5.80. Looks like diesel at most stations in Coldwater is priced at $5.69/gal.

We parked at an I69 rest area for a short break. Kathy fixed us lunch.

Parked at the Branch County Fairgrounds.

The arena.

We make sure to park facing the arena. A lot of the evenings there are young people riding horses in it. These two girls rode for a short time. Some evenings there are 12-15 kids.

Below is the neighbors rig.

In the late afternoon it sprinkled a little and the wind BLEW. The neighbor came flying in the drive, opened the back of the trailer and backed his Jeep into the trailer.

This year the Fairgrounds raised its nightly price to $35, up from $25 last year and $20 the year before that. It's still a good deal for a full hook up. They have lots of sites. We have never been here when there were more than 4 other RV's. I'm sure it is full during Fair Week, and maybe some other special events. It is really low key. We have stayed here on a weekend night. There was no "management" around, I had to call someone during the next week, to pay over the phone with a credit card.

God is good. I pray that He blesses you  and yours. He has blessed me.
